Dark Chocolate Chips

28 Sep

I love chocolate chip cookies. Well, cookies in general. But lately chocolate chip cookies are at the top of my list. Plus Mark will eat them so it helps justify making them. That and I can substitute the equivalent caloric value of my breakfast for cookies and that is the best.

When I first moved to Ripon, the woman I lived with had her own recipe for chocolate chip cookies and everyone LOVED them. They always requested she make Kathy Cookies for parties. So since Mark and I got married I have had it in my head that I needed Andrea Cookies. But like for real not like in Friends where it is really just Nestle Toll House:

Over the past year and a half I have tried numberous twists on Nestle’s recipe. Chocolate dough with peanut butter chips did not cut it. Oatmeal chocolate chip was a downright fail with Mark. And adding any kind of nutmeg or fall flavored spice led to Mark accusing me of putting pumpkin in it. And although I for one love pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, they are not really adored by the masses like their counterpart, the Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Finally I found one that passed Mark’s taste test. And really if Mark likes it everyone will. Dark chocolate chip Nestle Toll House cookies. All I did was swap out the chips. Different enough that people notice a difference in taste but definately still a solid chocolate chip cookie.
